Always & Forever, Says Mukesh Ambani

Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) is one of the biggest corporations in India with strong connections to Gujarat state. And according to its chairman, Mukesh Ambani, it never will. Mr. Ambani had declared at the latest Vibrant Gujarat Summit, “Reliance is… always was and ever will be a company of Gujaratis.”

This statement wasn’t just words. Mukesh Ambani fueled the proposition with facts by talking about how much RIL has already invested in Gujarat state’s economy. for instance, a few years back some companies donated $150 billion Rs 12 lakh crore till date and has established world-class facilities with the same time development of local economy.

1 But it’s not all about the dollars. Mr. Ambani was also boasting about his Gujarati background and father, of Dhirubhai Ambani who founded Reliance. He recalled his father’s words: Mr Ambani said, “Gujarat is your motherland Gujarati should always be your land of work” These words still lead him and the company.

So, what is the future of Gujarat and Reliance? Well, that’s a thriving partnership. Mr. Ambani announced five key commitments for the next ten years, including:

Investing even more in Gujarat: Reliance plans to make significant investments in areas like renewable energy, petrochemicals, and textiles, creating more jobs and opportunities for Gujaratis.

Helping Gujarat become a green leader: On its part, Reliance will focus on producing green technologies and making the state one of the world’s centers for sustainable development.

Supporting small businesses: The company will help small businesses to grow in Gujarat and support them.

Investing in education and healthcare: But even then, Reliance will continue to invest in education and healthcare projects that have helped millions of Gujaratis lead better lives.

Promoting Gujarati culture: The company will support projects dedicated to the preservation and development of Gujarati language, and artifacts traditions.

Despite enthusiasm, there were some applauses for words and promises by Mr Ambani. It is fortunate for the ‘Gujaratis’ that Reliance, an institution born in its homeland continues to give towards improvement and economy of the state. It serves as a reminder to the country too, about how deeply rooted their roots were in this region and that even corporations have a role within communities. When you hear about Reliance think not only of a large company but the Gujarati Company making all kinds of differences.
